This online Dhawa Dictionary was developed in 2024 as part of the South East Coast People’s Digital Keeping Place Project, led by a Project Working Group of ten family representatives from Moruya to Eden. The project was developed in collaboration with SharingStories Foundation.
As part of the project, three online dictionaries were developed including Dhurga, Djirringanj, and Dhawa (Thaua), with local Custodians, First Nation Media Mentees, and school students.
The primary language resource used to develop this online Dhawa Dictionary was ‘The Thaua Language: An Aboriginal Pictionary From The NSW Far South Coast’, authored by John Liston and published The Country Area Program, South Coast, Department of School Education in 1993.
